Shoden
Reiki Level I
a personal self-healing journey
Shoden initiates you into Reiki, provides you with the tools and techniques for self-healing, and supports students on the path to self-discovery.
A 21-day detox process attunes and certifies you in the Usui Reiki Ryoho tradition. Learn to sense ki, cultivate ki, and use this knowledge to ground and prepare the journey toward self and therefore self-healing.
This workshop provides training in the basic Reiki techniques. It consists of the integrated knowledge of Reiki at the First Degree or Shoden level from both the Western Takata tradition and the Japanese tradition that survived from Usui-sensei himself through the Gakkai and other Eastern masters.
Once initiated into Reiki you have a lifelong ability that you can use for general well-being, relaxation, stress, and pain management for yourself and for others.
Reiki accelerates the body's self-healing ability and can be used on its own or to complement all other healing modalities. The course also introduces you to your personal energy and how to work with it. You will attempt to feel your own energy and begin to develop your awareness and sensitivity toward the more subtle body.
You will learn and practice some meditation exercises originally taught by Usui-sensei that can be used daily to ensure a clearer and stronger Reiki channel.
Usui-sensei placed a much greater focus on healing the self than commonly found in Western Reiki Today.
You will be taught a traditional self-healing technique used by Usui-sensei with his students. You will also learn the Western tradition’s self-healing technique, so you have the opportunity to compare the two approaches and develop your practice with both.
Usui-sensei appeared to consider the healing of others as an element of service or side-effect of the discipline, but it plays a larger role in the Takata tradition of Reiki Shiki Ryoho.
There is only one Source, one Reiki; we must continue to unite the Usui lineages with appropriate collaboration, education, and reverence for a more developed universal practice and presence.
After this course, you will have ongoing access to distant Reiju attunements and are invited for membership in our monthly Reiki Circle.
Ongoing support, coaching, and guidance are available to further empower your personal growth and practice. This echoes Usui-sensei’s way of teaching Reiki, with cumulative attunements throughout your training.
There are no prerequisites for this course, and no prior experience is necessary. Receive a quality introduction from both a contemporary Western and classical Japanese perspective of this diverse evolving practice.
Complimentary tea will be available throughout our workshop, and a detoxifying vegetarian meal of kitchari will be provided for lunch. Please pack any additional snacks, foods, and drinks that you may require.
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes are recommended. Listed below is an outline of our course curriculum for your reference.
Early registration is recommended as we have a very limited number of available spaces for students to keep our workshops as immersive, and intimate as possible.
